Youth of Virginia Speak Out is a statewide, peer-to-peer education and leadership program that empowers teenagers to work towards the prevention of their number one health concern – motor vehicle crashes. YOVASO youth lead change for young driver and passenger safety.
Establishing Generations of Safe Teen Drivers in Virginia
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional death and injury for youth between the ages of 15 and 20.
YOVASO is working to change that by engaging, educating, and empowering youth to influence a safe driving culture through leadership development and innovative outreach programs.
Since statewide expansion of YOVASO in 2007, teen fatalities have steadily declined from 140 in 2007 to 60 in 2021.
